I am Sarah Bawden, and I am celebrating being an educator for over three decades! I am passionate to continue carrying on the proud profession of being a teacher in my family just like my grandmother had done starting in a one-room schoolhouse and my aunt has done for many years! I was born in Iowa and grew up in Omaha, Nebraska in a big, loving family! Without a doubt, I am a Husker football fan!! I graduated from UNC in Greeley and have a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I have continued to value finding opportunities to learn and grow each year. My first year of teaching was in California in a third grade classroom. Upon returning to Colorado, I have taught mostly in the intermediate grades in a 3rd and/or 4th grade classroom in Jeffco Public Schools. When I began teaching at Columbine Hills Elementary, I devoted 10 years in a second grade classroom and enjoyed the opportunity to build upon my teaching skills. Now I have come full circle by being back in a 3rd grade classroom! Outside of the classroom, I love spending time with my husband and three children. Being active outdoors, going for walks, gardening, watching movies, cheering on teams in various sports, dabbling in some painting and other crafts, and even spending time with my camera and exploring photography are some of my hobbies. As I begin another school year, I am truly looking forward to teaming with my CHE families to achieve a common goal of promoting and supporting growth in all of my students in many wonderful ways as we nurture a beautiful third grade garden!
