The Instructional Coach works side-by-side with the principal and teachers in implementing district and school-based initiatives, focusing on student achievement. The four roles of the Instructional Coach are:
Instructional Specialist
Co-plans, co-teaches, and models strategies and techniques that ensure rigorous core instruction for all levels of learners
Supports teachers in implementing national, state, and district standards and curriculum
Supports progress monitoring systems and tools to drive classroom instruction
Data Coach
Co-analyzes state, district, and school level student data with principal and teachers
Facilitates data decision making to maximize student achievement
Collaborates with teachers in planning responsive instruction and interventions
Capacity Builder and Change Agent
Plans and implements quality professional learning connected to school achievement goal
Facilitates teacher collaboration through structured learning opportunities
Supports teachers in professional goals and learning to maximize delivery of quality core instruction
District and School Improvement Leader
Collaborates with school principal and building leadership team to assess, design, and implement school improvement initiatives
Serves a sense-maker between district instructional initiatives, school improvement efforts, and daily classroom instruction
